From the first note, Maia proved she was far more than just a girl who liked to sing. Her voice was astonishingly mature, possessing both the power and the control needed to navigate the complex vocal runs and high notes of the R&B anthem. She delivered a flawless performance that transcended the expectation for a singer her age, transforming from a shy schoolgirl into a commanding diva on stage. By the time she hit the final, soaring notes, she had fully captivated the entire room, earning a standing ovation that signaled a truly special talent had arrived.

The judges struggled to find adequate words for the stunning performance. Amanda Holden confessed that initially, she feared Maia would try and fail to copy Houston, but quickly concluded that the performance was “mind-blowingly fantastic.” Simon Cowell was equally impressed, arguing that Maia was “miles better than the adults” and praising her ability to hold the audience’s attention like any experienced professional. Ultimately, Maia received four unequivocal “Yes” votes, cementing her audition as one of the standout vocal performances of the series and marking her as a definitive talent to watch.
